How Much Tongue Weight can the EcoHitch Hidden Hitch for 2024 Kia Carnival Handle?
Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 05/23/2025 >
Question:
I have a 6-bike rack that weighs almost 100 lbs. ALTA SUPERIOR 76ER We have 6 bikes that are all less than 40 lbs. each. If the total weight is 350 lbs, that is less than the 450 lbs tongue weight rated capacity. But, the bike rack extends out to hang bikes vertically from a horizontal bar 2’ behind the receiver. There is leverage and certainly dynamic forces. Would this be within the capacities of the EH92KR receiver? The bike rack, at full capacity, would be nearly 450 lbs, but I don’t plan to fill it with e-bikes! Thanks!

Hello Steven,
If your rack and bikes stay at 450 pounds or less, then the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # EH92KR would be great for your set-up because it has a tongue weight capacity of 450 pounds.
You will want to double check what Kia says the Carnival can handle. Sometimes the hitches will be rated higher than what the vehicle manufacturer says you can handle, you should never go over what they say you can.
Do you and your family have a specific trail you like to go to? Out here in Missouri we have the Katy Trail and it is loaded with bikes!

Hey Steven, Did you get a chance to check with Kia about the Carnival's capacity? I'm curious to know if the EcoHitch worked out for your bike setup. I'd love to hear your outcome because it could give others confidence when ordering replacements.
