Question:
Hello, I am deciding between your Yakima Hold up for 4 bikes or the Thule T2 Pro XTR. What are the main dofferneces between the two? I currently have a Kuat 3 bike rack but cant add on to it so need to get a new 4 rack system. This will be going on a 2020 Subaru and a 2003 VW Eurovan. I dont want to buy any extra parts, just plug and play. I have two mountain bikes and two kids bikes. Thank you!

Hey Rafe. The main difference between the Yakima HoldUp item # Y02443-2 and the Thule T2 Pro XTR item # TH69TX is the weight capacity and size of the tire cradles. Both bikes fit a 2" class III receiver and use a wheel mount attachment style to secure the bikes to the carrier.
The Yakima HoldUp item # Y02443-2 has a 50 lbs per bike capacity in either the 4 or 2 bike configuration. The wheel cradles fit tires up to 3" wide. For 29" wheels the maximum tire width is 2-1/2". There are no options for larger cradles.
The Thule T2 Pro XTR item # TH69TX has a total capacity of 160 lbs when in the 4 bike configuration. Each cradle has a maximum capacity of 60 lbs though. The cradles fit tires up to 5" wide.
Seeing as how you're going to be transporting two mountain bikes, I recommend the Thule T2 Pro XTR item # TH69TX.
How wide are you tires?
