Do You Have To Cut The Bumper When Installing A Hitch On A 2020 Lexus RX 350?

Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 05/20/2025

Question:

2020 Lexus RX 350 base - not F sport Do you have to cut the bumper or does the receiver push into the fascia or will the receiver clear the bottom of the bumper? IE How much clearance is there between the receiver and the bumper? Thank you

Hey Dave,

You do not have to cut the bumper when installing the EcoHitch # EH95KR. The hitch is going to install behind the bumper, you may have to temporarily remove the fascia or trim it some but no major cutting or drilling needed for install. Once it is installed the receiver is removeable to be completely hidden. When the receiver is use it is going to sit as close to the bumper as it can, giving about 1-2" of clearance between the bumper and top of the receiver for maximum ground clearance.

Are you going to be needing trailer wiring as well for that vehicle?

Hey Dave, did the EcoHitch installation go smoothly for your Lexus RX 350? I'm curious to know if the clearance worked out well for you, as it could help others with similar vehicles.
