Parts Needed to Install Redarc Tow Pro In 2017 Toyota Highlander

Updated 09/15/2025 | Published 05/20/2025

Question:

Im working on a 2017 Toyota Highlander non-hybrid. It has a 4-way installed it is all corroded and I will cut it out, but I need to add a brake controller, wiring, and connector to make it a 7-way. I was thinking RED52VR, 331-TPSI-002, DW05745-10, PK12711U. My main problem is, which pollack 7-way should I purchase? I installed 22119 in a different Highlander and I liked the way the 7-way connector comes together, but I couldnt find a stand-alone. Any recommendations?

Hey Zach, to convert the 4-way of your 2017 Toyota Highlander to a 7-way and install a brake controller requires the adapter part # ETBC7. This comes with everything needed to make the conversion as well as wire in a brake controller. If your current 4-way is trashed you could cut it off and cut off the ETBC7 4-way and hardwire the wires to each other.

So then you just need a brake controller like the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty part # RED52VR and the control knob insert part # 331-TPSI-002 and you'd be set.

Hey Zach, did the ETBC7 kit work out for converting your Highlander to a 7-way and installing the brake controller? I'm curious to know how it went because it could help others in a similar situation.

Jameson, it did work. I didn't have the time to do it myself, so I took it to a shop to get it done. I can't really provide much more details. Sorry.
