Solution for WDH That Covers Multiple Trailers

Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/26/2025

Question:

I have a 2022 F150 w/max tow package, above 500lbs I require a WDH. Im currently in the market for 10k GVWR equipment trailer. Since Ill be towing variable weight loads Im looking for a hitch that can be easily adjusted for different tongue weights. Can this hitch still operate adequately at tongue weights that are lower than 800 lbs.

Hey Mitchell! The Curt # C24UR will be overrated when towing trailers with a tongue weight under 800 lbs. If you're barely under it won't be an issue but if you're 100+ lbs under it will likely hurt ride quality instead of help. Since this system doesn't have bars with a lower rating to swap out it isn't a good choice for the kind of setup you're describing.

A better choice would be the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA94-00-1000. This has a wider tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 1,000 lbs. You can also trade out the spring bars with the # FA94-02-0699 when your tongue weight is 400 lbs - 600 lbs which will cover most trailers you will be towing.

The only other option would be to use the B&W Continuum Weight Distribution System # BW78FR. This system is fully adjustable so you won't have to swap out spring bars depending on the trailer. Although it does carry a high cost, it is great for situations like yours since you can set it perfectly no matter what trailer you're towing. If you need anything else don't hesitate to reply in the comments below.

Hey Mitchell, did you find a weight distribution hitch that works well with your variable weight loads? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could help others in a similar situation.
