Will a 2017 Ram 1500 Need to be Flashed After a Brake Controller Installation
Updated 07/06/2018 | Published 07/04/2018 >
Question:
I saw this video of the 90885 being installed on a 2017 Ram 1500, as I have a 2017 Ram Laramie without the stock brake controller. My dealership told me I could have the factory module installed, but I would then need my computer flashed to activate it. Do I need to do that for this device? Or, as simple as the install is in this video, is it good to go after install? Thank you.

Even if you don't have the factory brake controller installed on your 2017 Ram 1500 you shouldn't need to get it flashed to activate the controller. All you would need is the Prodigy P2 # 90885 and the wiring adapter # 3024-P that you saw in the linked video.
Their controller might have to have something special done with it to make it compatible but I would be surprised if you had to have your Ram flashed as we typically only see this needing to be done for Jeeps. On the off chance that your Ram actually does need to be flashed I still recommend going with the P2 over an OEM brake controller as they are not nearly as reliable.
