Is the 6K Curt MV Weight Distribution System Too Much for a 3K Trailer

I have a 2021 Kia Sorento EX. Tow capacity 3500lbs. Camper being towed is 2900lbs. Would the Curt 6k lb weight distribution hitch be ok or is it too much?

The tongue weight of a 3,000 lb trailer is going to be between 300 lbs and 450 lbs. Therefore, the Curt MV Weight Distribution System part # C17050 which is rated for up to 600 lbs would be a bit overrated but it will still work for you. It's better to overrated than underrated when it comes to weight distribution systems and this also leaves you more room for error to upgrade down the road.

Please note, in order to complete this system you will also need the 2" Hitch Ball part # A-90.

Hey Mitchell! The Curt #C24UR will be overrated when towing trailers with a tongue weight under 800 lbs. If you're barely under it won't be an issue but if you're 100+ lbs under it will likely hurt ride quality instead of help. Since this…

The 2015 Ram uses harness #3024-P for the P2 brake controller #90885. The 2-plug harness was for previous models and is not a fit for the 2015. It is the white connector that you have described up under the dash.
