Updated 04/17/2025 | Published 04/11/2025

Question:

I have a 1968 SilverStreak trailer that is dual axle and weighs about 5,000lbs. I need to re-build the suspension. Current springs are 26, 6 leaf double eye what springs, etc would be recommended for this trailer?

Hello Ken, thanks for reaching out. We do carry some 26" long double eye leaf springs. For example, the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e22YR is a 1-3/4" wide 2,000 lb spring that may work for you.

As far as the other suspension parts, I will need more info to make sure you get the right parts. If you want to replace all the bolts and shackles I would need to know the length of the current shackles measured center hole to center hole. Same for the equalizer. I would need the hole to hole measurements like in the picture below.

You will also need new U-bolts, and for that I will just need to confirm the diameter of your axles. The CE Smith U-Bolt Kit # CE23002 is for a 2-3/8" diameter axle.

I have linked a few of our trailer suspension articles for you below. You might find them helpful.

Leave a reply below with any additional info or comments and I will get back to you.

Jesse, I have the dimensions per your prior response. I also have photos. Do you have a site to which I can upload the photos or a direct email address? Thanks, Ken
