Features to know about

Direct Cooling for Non-Ducted RVs

In a non-ducted RV, cooled air does not travel through ceiling ductwork before reaching the cabin. It comes straight down through the ceiling assembly, so airflow at the unit matters. This Furrion Chill Cube gives you 18,000 Btu of cooling capacity and 340 CFM of airflow to help bring cabin temperatures down in the area where the AC is mounted.

Variable-Speed Cooling That Feels More Even

Furrion 18K Chill Cube variable speed RV air conditioner

A traditional AC often cools hard, shuts off, then starts again once the cabin warms back up. That can leave your RV bouncing between too warm and too cold, especially during long cooling stretches. The variable-speed compressor adjusts output as conditions change, helping the system stay closer to the temperature you want instead of constantly cycling on and off. Because it does not have to repeatedly restart at full force, it also runs noticeably quieter than many traditional RV ACs, making it less distracting during TV time, conversation, or sleep.

Heat Pump Comfort for Mild Weather

Cool mornings and shoulder-season trips do not always call for firing up a furnace. This unit has a built-in 17,000 Btu heat pump that can provide electric warmth without using propane. In cooling mode, the system moves heat out of the RV. In heat pump mode, it reverses that process and pulls available heat from the outside air into the coach. It is useful for mild, cooler conditions, but it is not meant to replace your main furnace in cold weather.

Helps You Feel Less Sticky in Muggy Weather

Humid air can make an RV feel sticky and heavy, even after the temperature starts to drop. While it cools, this unit removes up to 1.8 pints of moisture per hour, helping reduce that damp, clammy feeling on your skin and making the cabin feel less muggy. That extra moisture removal helps the space feel more comfortable on humid camping days when cold air alone is not enough.

Runs on More Than Shore Power

You are not always plugged into a full-power campsite when the RV starts heating up. This Chill Cube is 2,000W generator or inverter ready, giving you more flexibility for campgrounds, travel stops, and off-grid setups when paired with the right power source. Battery saver modes also help manage power use when you are trying to stretch your available energy. This unit runs on 115V, 60Hz power, with 1,480 watts of cooling power consumption, 15.8 amps of cooling current draw, and 11.9 amps of heating current draw. Those numbers give you something concrete to compare against your RV electrical system, generator, inverter, or campsite power before installation.

Match It to the Right R32 Setup

This is the rooftop AC unit only, so it needs compatible Furrion R32 interior components to complete the installation. That may include the correct air distribution box, thermostat, and controls for your ducted or non-ducted layout. Because R32 systems are not backward compatible with Furrion AC systems from 2024 and earlier, confirm your interior components before swapping the unit in. If you're looking for a complete AC system, check out Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump - Non- Ducted - 18K Btu - White - R32 or Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump - Non-Ducted - 18K Btu - Black- R32.

Installation Help When You Need It

Replacing a non-ducted rooftop AC means lifting the unit onto the RV, sealing the roof opening, and connecting it to the correct air distribution box and controls. Matching the rooftop unit to the right R32 Furrion components helps avoid fitment issues, but installation is still a job where the right help can make a difference. Hit a tree branch with old Mach, this was a good direct remove and install. Chill cube is so much quieter. Chilled our EPro 20 fbs fast on residential plug. Delivery and website was quick and smooth. Un expected replacement but well worth replacing.

Those darn trees come out of nowhere Michael! I was almost taken out once riding my horse when I was a kid! Install looks great, and I am glad it could bring you some peace as well =) Do you have any summer trips coming up where this will be put to great use, where are you headed?

18k non-ducted Furrion Chill Cube heat pump ,arrived in reasonable time. Originally I was concerned as the shipper ( UPS) had really beat up the box. Awaited my Rv tech to unbox, we found contents in pristine condition. Clearly, Furrion had foreseen this and had packed unit extremely well. With no damage present, the unit was installed after removal of old unit. Our 20 foot Grand Design Imagine 19rle trailer sits on a seasonal spot. First impression, the unit quickly appeared to bring trailer temps down and low noise was clearly evident even running on Turbo mode. 1 week has passed. I arrived to seasonal spot, ambient temp is 104, inside trailer temp is 114. Turning on the chill cube the trailer (sitting in full sun) cooled to 74 inside 2 hours with turbo mode. I am 100% sold on this unit. Measured noise levels, old unit 76db with new chill cube 68. This was standing under vent and unit with meter 40” off floor. Remarkable change in noise levels. I can actually feel cool air flow throughout trailer. Decidedly the perfect solution for cooling. Waiting on fall/winter to experience heating.

Easy installation and well worth the time and money.
There was nothing wrong with the Coleman Mach, but I heard so many positive things about the Chill Cube that I decided to change the one in the den. What a difference in performance with the Chill Cube. It cools faster, and the air coming out is colder. Highly recommend.

You asked me for a review without dealing with my issue, so, here’s your review.
I felt like the service before the sale was great! The service after the sale, not so much! I will say I think I bought the correct air conditioner for my application. Having said that, after receiving it, and reading the instructions, I found that it’s not compatible with ANY ceiling thinner than 3 1/2”. The instructions do say, that the ceiling must be 3 1/2 to 6”. (And if it’s not to contact your dealer or Furrion directly, which I did. Neither eTrailer, nor Furrion had a solution! Leaving me to come up with my own solution. If someone with lesser skills were left with this problem, you are leaving yourselves open for a lot of liability should this “modification” result in the a/c unit flying off the roof and hitting something or someone. I can’t be the only person who has a ceiling less than 3 1/2”. ATC is a very popular and very expensive trailer and every one of them has a 2” ceiling. Your service after the sale and frankly your lack of responses are less than stellar. You got an a/c sale from me, but it will be the last thing I ever buy from you. There are LOTS of other businesses on the internet, I certainly don’t need to do business with anyone who doesn’t follow through after the sale.
I made an adaptor. If you’d like the plans for it, let me know

Super Quiet! Overall uses much less power. Product (Furrion) documentation could be better. There are several control functions that are not adequately explained.

Be sure to measure the area it will be mounted at. I ran into an issue with a solar panel mount being in the way, not the panel, but the mount. I had to have the mount removed and have not yet been able to reinstall the solar panel mount (rain).

The heat pump is a great addition. But, turn off the unit and turn on another heat source if the temperature is going below 45.
by:
Probably jump the gun on this review because I haven’t got it out of the box yet.
by:
Works great, used the heat pump to take the chill off for awhile when it was 46 degrees in the morning, runs quiet once it gets to temp and regulates it, haven’t used the cool side of it yet but guessing it will be the same ,
by:
It's amazing, so quite and cools down the Motorhome quickly and the power consumption is way less then our old one.
by:
Heats and cools very well. Easy to install in place of an old unit.
by:
Great service and selection

  • Does etrailer Carry Furrion Chill Cube w/ Heat Pump to Replace Dometic Duo-Therm
Hey Andrew! Yes, Furrion does have a Chill Cube model with a heat pump. This was actually just released for aftermarket sale. You will need a complete system to make the switch, new R32 units aren't backwards compatible with old R410A systems. You can choose from the following based on color and ducted/ductless: -Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV AC w/ Heat Pump - Ductless - 18K Btu - White - R32 # FR87TQ -Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV AC w/ Heat Pump - Ductless - 18K Btu -...

  • Reason Why Furrion Chill Cube w/ Heat Pump Isn't Backwards Compatible With 2024 And Earlier Systems
Hey Kenny, welcome back! The reason for that note is because all of the new systems since 2025 use R32 refrigerant due to EPA regulations. Any 2024 and older systems use R410A and their parts are not compatible with the R32 units. It doesn't mean you can't use the new Chill Cube, it just means you have to completely replace the old system. You can choose from the following based on color and ducted/ductless: -Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump - Ductless...

  • Availability of Heat Strip or Heat Pump for Furrion Chill Cube RV AC
Hey Jon; I was actually just talking to Furrion about heat options for the Chill Cube yesterday (1/21/2025). At this time, the only way to have heat with this unit is through a furnace on a ducted setup. The Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Air Distribution Box, Thermostat # FR49TD (black) and # FR69TD (white) come with a wall mounted thermostat capable of running a furnace. **Edit** (1/27/2026) The Furrion Chill Cube with the heat pump is now available. • What Roof Thickness does Furrion Chill Cube Variable Speed Fit
Hey Joe, welcome back! The Furrion Chill Cube Variable Speed part # FR57TQ that you referenced is designed to fit roof thicknesses between 1.5 inch and 2 inch so yours being 2.75 inch is not a problem at all and would not require any additional hardware or adapters. The only thing you need is an air box with the part # LC44DX and you'd be set but you would need this regardless of the roof thickness. What RV do you have and what AC unit are you replacing with this?

  • Operating Temperature for Furrion Chill Cube With Heat Pump
Hey Adam! The outdoor temperature range for heating operation on the # FR77TQ is 41º F to 75º F. Since they went ahead and gave me this information when I asked, I'll add that the outdoor cooling operation range is 64º F to 109º F. Anything below 41º and you will be relying solely on your furnace. It does look like your 2026 XLR Nitro 41G14 came with ductless Chill Cubes already. Since they use the same air distribution box you don't need the full system, you can swap out the AC unit...

  • Will the Furrion 18K Chill Cube Work on a 1987 Avion 32S and How Does the Airflow Work?
Hello Jeremy, Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us! Thanks for writing in! Yes, you can install the Furrion Chill Cube on your 1987 Avion 32S as long as you have the standard 14" x 14" roof opening. Since Furrion changed from R410A refrigerant to R32 in 2025, you will need to replace the entire AC setup rather than trying to reuse components from an older system. For your non-ducted setup, you will want the Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV AC w/ Heat Pump & Ceiling Assembly...

  • What Factors to Consider When Buying New RV AC Unit
Hey Kirk, there are a few things to consider but generally the big factors people care the most apart are how effective they are at cooling the RV, how quiet they are, and much power they draw, do they have a heat pump?, and cost. Since you have a non-ducted setup I would highly recommend the Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube part # FR57TQ which has a heat pump. This blows the coldest, draws the lowest power, and also is the quietest. It does cost a bit more but for how much nicer it is...

  • Warranty for Furrion Chill Cube With Heat Pump
Hey Bill! The Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Heat Pump # FR67TQ comes with a 2-year warranty. The same is true for the # FR57TQ and # LC44DX you went ahead and ordered, which is designed for a non-ducted setup. If you decide you want to use the remote, you can add it later using the # FR94FY. Is this for your Beaver Patriot motorhome?
