Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident: 5,000-lb Load-Leveling Capacity

Heavy trailers, campers, or bed loads can make the rear sag and throw off handling. The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs add up to 5,000 lbs of load-leveling capacity between the frame and suspension to keep your ride level. By keeping weight evenly distributed, steering feels steady, braking stays consistent, and your headlights stay properly aimed even when the rear is loaded down.

Smooth Out the Ride: Adjustable Air Pressure from 5 psi to 100 psi

Every haul is different, and these air springs let you dial in how firm or soft your suspension feels. With adjustable air pressure from 5 psi to 100 psi, you can stiffen things up when towing or drop to minimum pressure when unloaded for a smoother ride. Each spring has its own inflation valve so you can fine-tune side-to-side balance for uneven loads, cutting down on sway and bounce while keeping control over rough roads.

Dependable Strength You Can Feel: Double-Convoluted Rubber Construction

The Ride-Rite system uses double-convoluted air springs built with four layers of reinforced rubber and corrosion-resistant metal end plates. A braided wire girdle strengthens each bag’s shape for higher burst pressure and long-term durability. This design helps absorb road shock, soften the contact between axle and frame, and prevent bottoming out under heavy load—keeping your truck feeling solid no matter what’s in tow.

Firestone Ride-Rite air spring kit components including double-convoluted air springs, brackets, hardware, and airline tubing for rear axle installation

Built for Real Use: Complete Kit Ready for Manual Inflation

Each Ride-Rite kit includes custom brackets, hardware, air lines, and separate valves for manual inflation. Installation places the air bags between the frame and rear suspension for maximum stability without altering factory weight ratings. Once installed, you get reliable load support that prevents permanent sag in your leaf springs and delivers a smoother, more controlled drive when hauling heavy gear or towing serious weight.

Installation was really easy except for the lower brackets that attach to a lip of metal. There was another piece of metal on the axle that got in the way but i pried and then hammered the bracket into place, squeezing it in. If I didn’t I’d still be able to get the bolt through but I bet as I tightened it down it would move the base plate and wouldn’t be lined up as well. No air is leaking so far. I didn’t buy the compressor so I might screw on some Bluetooth tire pressure monitors so I’ll get notified if pressures drop below 5psi. I have a 2023 Chevy 2500 and surprisingly with 15psi and no load in the bed it rides much better! Doesn’t hop all over the place

by:

This installation took twice as long as it should have! The top plate had to be modified to clear the leaf spring U bolts and shock absorber bracket.
The Jounce doesn’t allow the installation of the 3/8@ bolts close the leaf spring that holds the brackets together. I’m not sure what to do with this now. I saw in other reviews where other people had similar issues. Not sure if it’s the universal bracket design vs having slotted holes like your video.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also both valve inserts had to be replaced!

I purchased this Firestone Air suspension and installed it myself on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab 4x4. Not having a lift, I had to use a creeper and tarps under and beside the truck to do the installation. Installation was pretty straight forward after viewing the video from etrailer a few times and using the provided diagrams. You will need good 3/4" drive hand tools for the installation. An electric or air impact wrench and ratchet also speeds things up. I then installed a mini onboard compressor with remote control for in cab or outside operation. The system has never leaked air but if it did, any time the vehicle is started, the compressor will refill the system. I keep 10 lbs. air pressure in it and raise it to 20 when I haul my dirt bike on my hitch carrier and it compensates nicely and keeps the vehicle level. All good so far.

This the 3rd truck I've used and installed myself of the Firestone 5,000lb rated airbags on, and not one has ever failed on me. I used them on a 2007.5 Chevy LMM 2500 LT Silverado, a 2020 Chevy 2500 LTZ Silverado, and yesterday I put them on my 2025 GMC 2500 Denali. I did pair my new bags with an Airlift wireless compressor, which is an awesome addition to the bags. I like the fact that etrailer did a comparison video on the Firestone and AirLift bags, and they found the Firestone bags are of better quality and can support the weight of the axle if you lift the truck off the ground by the frame. If you have never installed these bags, you do not have to lift the truck off the ground or remove your rear tires. If you're like me, and do not have access to a lift, I suggest removing your spare tire, which will give you more seating area, and you will not bonk your head into it. Two thumbs up on this kit

by:

excellent product, very easy (uncomplicated) install. anyone who is somewhat mechanically inclined can install themselves. It took me about 3.5 hours by myself with simple tools and a jack on my garage floor. Hardest part was me getting up and down from the creeper.
On my truck, (2015 GMC) i had to remove Ebrake cable brackets on both sides and reroute, not a big deal. also, did not find it necessary to remove spare tire heat shield, worked around it just fine. Routed my schrader valves through the plate screw holders for easy access.

Yes, as long as the truck was not originally built as a Cab and Chassis model, the part # F2025 air sping kit will fit.

by:

we put them on our 98 Silverado 1500. install was pretty easy. Our 2
place enclosed snowmobile trailer doesn't make the old chevy sag any more, Now I can adjust the load for proper tounge weight, making the rig more sure-footed.

by:

One of the best things I ever purchased for my 1996 1/2 ton Chevy truck. With only ten pounds of PSI in an empty truck bed, the ride quality of the vehicle is improved dramatically. With a load in the bed, the ride level and stability is greatly improved. Me and a buddy had it completely installed in about four hours. I mounted the air fill valves separately, so I can balance the level from side to side also.

by:

I installed this on my 93 Chevy Z71 shortbed about one year ago and it is working great. The short wheelbase allows for more strength but the hwy springs are too soft for heavy loads. This airbag system allows me to haul a full load of wood on my 10k trailer and the pickup bed loaded as well. I carry a hand air pump in the toolbox to adjust the air bags whenever needed. This suspension mod allows me to haul maximum loads out of the woods and makes for a smooth and safe ride on the Hwy.

  • Recommended Shock Absorption for Keystone Montana 5th Wheel with Tandem Axles
Trailer suspension uses different components for the air systems than the frame mounted suspension you are looking at. For your tandem axle Keystone Montana, I recommend the Lippert Components Trailair by Center Point Air-Ride Suspension Upgrade - Tandem Axle # LC1565391 which will give you adjustable air pressure in the form of an equalizer for your leaf springs. If you want a trailer with air suspension, this is the way to go with adjustable air springs that can use manual valves or...

  • Putting Vehicle On Lift After Installing Air Helper Springs
After installing air springs like the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2025 on your 1997 Chevy K1500, you will want to take precautions when lifting the truck. The springs are designed to compress with added weight, but aren't really able to handle stretching like what you described. When lifting the truck, you will want to add some kind of support to the rear axle or simply remove the bolts on the top or bottom of the air springs so they are not attached on both ends.
