Question:
Im looking at purchasing the Tow-Pro Elite Electric Brake Controller EBRH-ACCV3-NA, i have a 2006 ram bighorn 4x4 1500 4.7l engine that has a factory electric brake plug in. Does this controller have a direct fit auxiliary plug in as an option to plug and play a they say, can I cut the wiring harness of the old controller and wire the Tow-Pro Elite Electric Brake Controller to the old plug and use the factory electric brake wiring plug in. Or do you recommend I bypass the factory plug in all together. Thank you for your help

Hello Duane,
The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller - Dash Knob - Off-Road Mode - Up to 3 Axles - Proportional # RED44FR would be the right part number for your 2006 Dodge Ram Bighorn 4x4 1500 because Redarc does not have a vehicle specific pigtail for your year, make, and model. So Yes, you would be able to cut the connector off to splice in the controller.
If you'd prefer to avoid splicing, we also carry the Curt Spectrum Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness – Dash Mounted Knob – Up to 4 Axles - Proportional #C93MV. This option includes a vehicle-specific harness, making installation much easier, and still offers the convenient dash-mounted knob for smooth control. I included an install video for you to check out.
How many axles does the trailer have that you are looking to use the brake controller for?

Hey Duane, how did things go with wiring the Tow-Pro Elite brake controller on your Ram? Did the splice connection work out smoothly or did you end up going with the Curt Spectrum instead? Your update could make it easier for others working with the same factory plug.
