How To Find Replacement Hub For 1993 Ranger Trail Bass Boat Trailer

Question:

Im looking to purchase a replacement hub with races and bearings for my 1993 ranger trail bass boat trailer . Im not sure which hub assembly to look for.

Hey Jake, there's a few things you'll want to check so that we can match up a hub for your 1993 Ranger Trail bass boat trailer. You'll first want to measure the lug pattern / wheel bolt pattern. I've attached an article to help with this (some common sizes are 5 on 4-1/2", 4 on 4" etc).

Next you'll want to either get the axle capacity of your trailer, or pull off the hub and get the bearing numbers so we can match up the correct hub.

For example, the Trailer Hub Assembly - 2,200-lb E-Z Lube Axle - 5 on 4-1/2 - 13" - 15" Wheels - Galvanized # 8-258-50UC1-EZ you were looking at is for a 2,200lb axle and fits 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern; this also uses and includes Inner bearing: L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) and Outer bearing: L44649 (1.063" inner diameter). My pattern and spacing is 5 by 4.5 My axles are 3500 rated axles I currently have ez lube spindles.

I'd go with Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K if you don't have brakes, or if your trailer happens to have drum brakes then go with the Easy Grease Trailer Hub/Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKHD-545-35-G-EZ-K. These are both galvanized so they'll be good for boat trailers, and they include the necessary bearings, races, seals, lug nuts, and cap etc.

@AndrewN Tandem axle ..rear axle has disc brakes ...front axle has no brakes.

@Jake You'll need to measure the diameter of your axle. If it's 2-3/8" you have a 3500lb axle. If you have 3" diameter, it's 5,200-7000lb axle. I imagine you have to 3,500lb axles but only way is for you to measure or find a tag on the axle or trailer somewhere. If you have 3,500lb axles like I think you do, you'll want Kodiak 10" Hub-and-Rotor Assembly - 5 on 4-1/2 - Dacromet - 3,500 lbs # KHR10D for rear braking axle and Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K for the non braking axles.
