Is there a Locking Locking Pin for My Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender?

Updated 03/18/2025 | Published 03/10/2025

Question:

Do you guys sell actual locking pins for this product? Or would have any suggestions how to better secure it from theft? I have a hitch pin with key lock but the square locking pins that assemble it can easily be removed by anyone in a parking lot

Hello Alan,

Great question! The specifications of the Lock Pins that come with the # MAL32VR are 3/8" diameter, and 3" long. We do not have anything that is going to be a good fit, I did reach out to the tech at Malone to see if a 1/4" lock like the etrailer Surge Brake Coupler Lock - 3-3/8" Span - 1/4" Diameter - Chrome # e98888, he said that one would have a little too much slop. Instead he suggested: The customer could use the included Pins, but then buy tamper-resistant (hex or torx) M8 x 1.25mm bolts to replace the (4) Anti-Wobble Knobs. This would require a special tool to be able to pull the rack apart rather than the customer having to use multiple sets of keys.

I feel like anything to slow down the 5 fingered bandits is better than nothing. At leas you know the specs of the Lock Pins, you might be able to find a lock somewhere else with those specifications. Please let me know what you end up doing to keep Sticky Fingers McGee from taking your load extender.
