Material

Pre-galvanized steel parts are stamped from a sheet of steel after it has already been galvanized. The edges of the pre-galvanized parts often lose their zinc coating during the stamping process. Because of the thinness of the coating less than 1 mil and the fact that the edges remain exposed, pre-galvanized parts can begin to oxidize and rust quickly, so it is recommended that they be primed and painted.

  • Are Roller Bunks or Keel Rollers Needed on the CE Smith Boat Trailer Part # CE48810
The CE Smith Boat Trailer part # CE48810 comes with guide ons which help to center your boat during loading and to hold the boat during transport so I don't really recommend adding anything additional in regards to this aspect because of the size of the boat. However, if you will be launching your boat at night or in the early mornings I recommend using the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons with LED Lights part # CE27740 which will provide visual targets. What I do recommend using is a two...

  • 60 Inch or 24 Inch Bunk Guides for Boat Trailer
Since you mentioned wanting the most stability and not always being perfect when loading (understandably), I think the longer, 5 foot (60 inch) CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers # CE27600 is the best option as it will give you the most stability and assistance in guiding your boat all the way on your trailer. The 2 foot (24 inch) CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers # CE27660 are certainly not something that will be inadequate, but the longer guide-ons are really...

  • Are the Bunk-Style Guide-Ons Compatible with Pontoon Boat Trailer Applications
The CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers part # CE27600 can be used on any trailer but traditionally they are not used on pontoons. Not saying we do not install them on pontoons. As a matter of fact we used the CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers part # CE27660 which is similar to that above on my buddy Shane's pontoon. Check out the linked video. It seems that most folks like a vertical style guide on in this situation. Something like the CE Smith Bunk Style Guide-Ons...

  • Recommended Bunk-Style Guide Ons For Tandem Axle Trailers
I do have an option for you, but there is not a version of the CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers # CE27600 you were looking at that is any longer or designed for tandem axle trailers. Instead you will need to go with the CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers - 24" Long - 1 Pair # CE27660 and install it where ever you can in front and behind your fenders. I included a video of the # CE27660 for you to take a look at.

  • Guide-On Kit Recommendation for Boat Trailer with Steps in Front of and Behind Axle Fender
It sounds like you're describing something like the CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers # CE27660. Guide-ons are pretty universal fits so as long as your frame matches the 3" wide x 4-1/4" tall specs for the U-Bolt kit and you have room to accommodate the 1-1/2" wide posts you'll be good to go. If this won't work for you then I'll need to know the size of your trailer frame, how far out the guide needs to sit, and how much space you have on the frame to fit the guides so I...

  • Bunk Style Guide On Recommendation for Boat Trailer With Tandem Axle Fenders
One solution could be to install one of the bunks of the CE Smith Bunk Guide Ons # CE27660 in front of and behind the fender wells of your trailer since we don't have any longer than 5 feet like the kit part # CE27600.

  • Bunk Board Guide On Kit Recommendation for Trailer with Wider Outside Frame Channels
Since the outside frame channel on your trailer is about as wide as your boat you'd need to go with a guide on that has a 90 degree angle for the upright posts instead like the part # CE27600K90 so that you'll get closer contact like you need.

  • Bunk Board Guide On Installation Instructions
You will want to give the boat a little wiggle room between the guide-ons. They are there mainly to help you keep you on track as you approach the trailer. The actual bunks of the trailer will center the boat on the trailer once it gets far enough on the trailer. Think of these as a way to pre-center the boat on the trailer as it slides on. I would go with a couple inches of space between the boat and the bunks. I attached an install video for this product for you to check out as well.

  • Can the Angle of Boards be Changed in CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers
Yes, you can change the angle of the bunks in the CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons # CE27660. The brackets that hold the bunk boards are bolted to the tops of the posts so once the angle needed is set you would tighten those bolts to keep that angle.

  • Should Boat Trailer Guide Ons Touch Boat When Installed
When you set up a set of guide ons like the part # CE27660 you wouldn't want them to contact both sides of the boat at the same time. You would want an inch or two of clearance between the boat and the uprights.

  • CE Smith Bunk Board Guide-Ons Spacing Required From The Boat On The Trailer
You want to have the CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons # CE27660 1-2" away from the sides of your boat so that you can load the boat easily on your trailer. If you have them tight against your boat it will cause you to get hung up trying to load your boat as it will rub against the bunks and can even act as a wedge if the boat is drifting sideways. I have linked an installation video below that will help you see where these should be mounted.

  • Boat Trailer Guides Needed for Triple Axle Boat Trailer
Choosing the correct guides is a little different for each boat/trailer combo but we do have a few options that you can choose from. I recommend going with either the CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-On Kit # CE27600K90 where you supply your own 2x4 boards to fit your application, or the smaller 24" CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons # CE27660 which you could place at the front and back of each fender. These options fit frames up to 3" wide x 4-1/4" tall but it looks like you have a rather tall trailer...

  • 90 Degree Boat Bunk Guide On Recommendation
We have the 90 degree roller style of guide ons which would be your best option with the part # CE27600K90. This uses a roller that mounts vertically and will roll as it allows your boat to guide along past it. There isn't a 90 degree version of the # CE27660 that you referenced.

  • Boat Trailer Guide-Ons Without 90-Degree Angle Bend
You are right that most boat trailer guide-ons are 90-degree types. Some, like the Fulton Galvanized Roller Guide-Ons # FBGR200101 and CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons # CE27600 and # CE27660 have a wider angle. All such items are shown on the linked pages.

  • CE Smith Boat Guide On For a Tandem Axle Trailer
The bunk board of the # CE27600 that you referenced is 60 inches long. That may be a bit of a stretch to get to fit around a tandem axle fender but you would need to measure yours first. Between the posts is going to be around 48 inches depending on where you drill the holes to mount the boards. A better option may be to install two sets of the # CE27660 instead. One before and after the fenders.

  • Will the CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-On # CE27660 Fit on a Pontoon Boat Trailer
The CE Smith bunk style guide-ons # CE27660 were not designed for pontoon boats, but you may be able to make them fit depending on your trailer frame design. If you are only needing them for guide-on purposes, the CE Smith guide-ons # CE27670 may work better for you. This guide-on mounts to your frame rails that run perpendicular to the bunk boards, so you can mount them at the rear, middle or front of the trailer.

  • What Wood is Used for CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers
The wood used for the bunk boards on the # CE27660 CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers is not pressure treated. CE Smith uses untreated southern yellow pine for their bunk boards. These also feature marine-grade carpeting to protect your boat's finish. I have attached a video review and installation for your reference.

  • Guide-Ons For Boat Trailer to Help Boat to Load Centered
Hey Phil, There sure is something you can get to help getting the boat to load centered, which are boat guide-ons. These will work so long as your boat trailer has a frame up to 3" wide x 5-1/4" tall, and are the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers - 75" Tall - Black # CE27626 or White # CE27620. Yes, the CE Smith Bunk-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers # CE27660 does include the U-bolts for mounting hardware. • What Prevents CE Smith Guide Ons from Floating Away
The PVC pipes of the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons # CE27660 are a friction fit to the L-brackets. They are just tight enough that you wouldn't have to worry about them floating off or flying off down the highway. If water got in them it would drain out of the bottom of the bracket.

You will want to ensure that there is nothing on the insides of your pontoons that could be damaged from these guides and that the legs are long enough to reach your frame rails. We carry a pair of bunk-style guide-ons for boat trailers, the 24 inch # CE27660 and the 60 inch # CE27600.
