Availability of Class IV Hitch for 2019 Lexus GX 460

Question:
Hello, I have a 2019 Lexus GX 460. I bought a boat that has surge brakes equipped on the trailer. I see you carry a after market class 3 hitch for it. The boat Im guessing is about 4500-5000 pounds right at the limit of the class 3. Do you offer a class 4 for this model. I see that Lexus has a factory option but it is expensive and I would rather go aftermarket. Also regarding the surge brakes. The GX comes with a factory installed 7pin/4 pin hook up in back. Do I need to purchase anything else to get the brakes to work and the trailer to properly back up. The trailer has a 5 pin on it and I do have an adapter from 7 to 5. Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.

Hey Brett! This comes up a lot with Lexus. Unfortunately, Class III hitches like the # e46YR are the only aftermarket option available. I'm not sure why the manufacturers don't make a Class IV but it is a consistent theme with different Lexus models. The only way to get the Class IV hitch with the 6,500 lb capacity is to go the OEM route. I would double check the weight of your boat and trailer to be sure before you spend extra on the OEM hitch.
Since you have a factory 7-way that 7-way to 5-way adapter will work with the electric lockout. You won't need anything else to make your brakes work. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to reach out in the comments below.

Hey Brett, how did things turn out with the Class III hitch on your GX 460 and the boat trailer? Did the 7-way to 5-way adapter handle the surge brakes the way you needed? Your update could make it easier for others towing similar setups.
