What Kind of Chassis is My 2009 Damon Avanti Built On & What Suspension Enhancement do You Carry?

Updated 02/03/2025 | Published 02/01/2025

Question:

Will the air Lift Load Lifter 5000 air spring work on a 2009 Damon Avanti chassis? It is not one of the model choices and I cannot find the exact chassis number for the Avanti. Thanks

Hello Glenn.

In my research I have found that the 2009 Damon Avanti is built on the Workhorse W16 chassis. The Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with Internal Jounce Bumpers - Rear Axle # AL88202 are for the Workhorse chassis but only the W20, W22, and W24. The only suspension enhancement that we have for the W16 chassis is the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs - Front # AL81560. I know it's not the beefy bags you were looking at, but you will definitely notice a difference. I have attached a couple of videos for you to check out as well.

What kind of issue are you having that you are looking into the airbags?

Hi Kate The Avanti is a lightweight A class and feels like it’s going to tip over sometimes! I was looking to stiffen it up. The Al1560 sounds good for the front. You also sent installation instructions for Al 88202, do they fit on the rear? I have no experience with these and wondering if just the front is a good start. When I used the number link in your message on the Al1560 it said they would not fit the Damon? It said I need some $800 Sumo’s? Not sure what I am doing.

@Glenn The joys of trying to drive a camper with body roll, it gives you that sick feeling in your stomach like your first roller coaster as a kid but without the fun part! Now knowing what the real issue is I have some different options for you that are going to make your driving experience more enjoyable. I would start with the Roadmaster Exact Center Steering Stabilizer w/ Custom Brackets for Class A Motorhomes # RM25RR, you will notice a huge difference as it has a special gas spring that pushes back when your RV starts to wander, so you don’t have to fight the steering wheel as much. This makes driving easier, safer, and less tiring. Another upgrade you can make to that will help a lot is going to be your sway bars. For the rear you will want Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar - 1-1/2" Diameter # RM-1259-118, and for the front Roadmaster Front Anti-Sway Bar - 1-5/8" Diameter # RM-1259-115, or if you wanted to spend a little more on the front and get the kit with the TruTrac # RM-1259-116 it will help even more as the TruTrac rod is will help keep your axle in line preventing even more wander. By installing these components you will notice a huge difference. I attached some review videos for you to take a look at. We take a lot of pride in our content and I think our videos give you a good feel for the products before purchasing. If you have any questions at all, please ask away.
