Is the wool green treated? How long will the bunks last before you need to replace them?

I spoke with my contact at CE Smith and the wood in the Carpeted Bunk Boards # CE27840 is a non-treated wood. The carpet though is marine grade carpeting.
Typically bunk carpet will last a few years, but that really depends on how often its used. I've read that you can prolong the life of the carpet if you apply liquid car wax to the carpet a couple times a season. If you do this you will need to wait till the trailer is in the water before you disconnect it from the trailer.
The wax acts as a lubricant for the carpet which puts less wear and tear on the carpet but it also makes the carpet very slick so your boat might slide right off if it was disconnected while you were backing down the ramp.
