Difference Between Hard Folding Tonneau Covers for 2024 Toyota Tacoma

Updated 01/21/2025 | Published 01/16/2025

Question:

What is the difference among all your hard folding Tonneau covers? I see that each one has a different model number.

Hi Alison; there are quite a few differences between the different part numbers. Typically it is the brand, construction material, and other features for a particular model that differentiate them. For example, the # e95DR you were looking at is made of fiberglass reinforced plastic and is our own etrailer brand. A cover like the # LOM24NR is made by Lomax and has an aluminum construction. Are there some specific tonneau covers you want to know about? If so, let me know in the comments below.

Thanks for your prompt response, Robin. I just got a 2024 Toyota Tacoma SR5 and am looking for a secure bed cover. I transport rifles and accessories monthly to trade shows and must have a locking cover.

@AlisonR of course, you definitely don't want anyone stealing those. In that case I recommend looking at the Lomax # LOM44NR. This locks with the tailgate and has 10 security points making it hard to pry open. It also has an aluminum construction. This one is designed for the 5' bed. If you have the 6' bed you need the # LOM27NR instead.

@RobinH Thanks for that. I'm a senior on a fixed income so I was not looking to spend quite that much. Is there an advantage, or not, to a retractable cover versus a folding cover?

@AlisonR I would consider the retractable a little more secure but outside of that there isn't a major advantage for your application. However, they tend to be even more expensive.
