Can TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs for 2022 Ram 3500 Short Bed Be Installed Without TorkLift Hitch

Updated 01/04/2025 | Published 12/29/2024

Question:

Hello. I’m looking to get the tie down frame brackets for my 2022 Ram 3500 short bed 6’4”. I’m thinking about doing the torklift model. I’d like to get the front and rear. Do I need to get the torklift tow hitch or can I install the bracket straight to the frame?

Hi Joe; you do not have to have the TorkLift hitch to install their tie-downs on your 2022 Ram 3500. However, you will need some kind of hitch for these to work. Assuming you have a factory hitch and no running boards/cab length running boards you can use the TorkLift Tie Downs - Custom Frame Mount - Front and Rear # TL23NR.

If you don't have a factory hitch you will need to add an aftermarket hitch like the Curt # C14258 or # C15801. With the aftermarket hitch you will need the # TL75SV instead. If you have wheel to wheel running boards the only option will be the Brophy Slide In Camper Tie-Downs # HSAB.

In addition to the tie-downs you will also need turnbuckles. I recommend the TorkLift Locking FastGun Turnbuckles for Frame-Mounted Tie-Downs # TLS9529-2-LK. These are incredibly easy to use and are especially nice to have when you need to access your fuel door. If you end up using the Brophy tie-downs then the Brophy Basic Turnbuckles # TDHP would be required.

Hello. Thank you for the reply. I see the #TL23NR. Is currently out of stock. Is there a similar one that works that you do have in stock or is that the only option for the stock tow hitch. Mine is not a dually. Does that matter?

@Joe the other option for the OEM hitch is the TorkLift Talon which is the premium option with aluminum construction. You would need the # TL52XR for the front and # TL34FR for the rear. These fit single and dual wheel applications. However, you may need the TorkLift Camper Anchor Relocation Kit # TLA7004 since it is a dually. Measure from the front of the camper slide in point to the rear anchor point. If total is 90" or less, use the kit.
