Will a Weight Distribution System Increase the Tongue Weight on My 2024 Mazda CX90's Hitch?

Question:
I would like to tow and airstream Bambi 16, with a 2024 Mazda cx90 . It is rated 3500lb with a tongue weight of 350. the airstream is 3000 lbs and has a tongue weight of 430. Is there a weight distribution hitch that will make this possible.

Hello Donald.
For towing you never want to go over what is recommended in your owners manual. It all depends on the hitch that you have on the vehicle. Some of them can be rated for a higher tongue weight when using a weight distribution system, but not every hitch is designed this way. The 2 different hitches that we have listed for the 2024 Mazda CX-90 are rated at 500 pounds tongue weight (just because the hitch is rated for that much, does not mean the vehicle is designed for that much weight) the # C25FV, and # DT36KV. Both of the hitches I mentioned are not designed to handle more weight when using a weight distribution system.
Now it would not hurt to add a weight distribution system anyway. It will definitely give you a more enjoyable towing experience as they help with sway. For a 450 pound tongue weight I recommend the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 7-Hole Shank - 6K GTW, 600 lbs TW # BLU36FR. This system works with a tongue weight of 200-600 pounds, and comes with a 2 5/16" ball.
I would double check to see what hitch you have on the vehicle, if your vehicle is rated for that kind of weight it might be in your best interest to take off your current hitch and swap it to one of our higher rated ones to be able to tow your Airstream Bambi.
I have included an excellent help article about weight distribution hitches, it really breaks it down on when you need them, why you need them, and what they do.

Hey Donald, how did things go with towing your Airstream Bambi using the Blue Ox TrackPro system? Did it help smooth out the ride and reduce sway as expected? Your experience could really help others looking at similar setups with the CX-90.
