Replacement 5.70-8 Tires for a Taylor Dunn B36 Electric Industrial Cart

Updated 06/04/2014 | Published 06/03/2014

Question:

I need to replace the tires on a Taylor Dunn B36 electric industrial cart. It current has 3 different brand tires on it. two of which are in terrible shape. I want to go with something that will with stand the weight the cart is designed to carry. The cart weighs 1497 lbs, and has a capacity of 2000 lbs. The current tires are DICO 5.7-8 Industrial service 5 lug. I would like to get the same size and type or possibly the same height with a Wider tread foot print. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

If you just wanted to get the tires and not replace the wheels you can use # AM10013. This is a 5.70-8 tire, load range D, with a capacity of 1,075 pounds at 100 psi. Four of these will have a capacity of 4,300 pounds so they can handle the 3500 pound total of the cart when fully loaded.

Trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tire. This is because trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall to handle more vertical load. If the tires were on a trailer and not a cart being under inflated could cause excessive heat build up due to the thicker sidewall. This might not be a problem for a cart but just the same I would still inflate them to the max psi.

To go to a larger size with a high enough capacity you would need to go to a 215/60-8, # AM3H323. But this tire is 3 inches wider and is rated lower at 1,040 pounds at 70 psi. You may not have the clearance for this tire size.
