Hey Dave,

You can protect your EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7221 from rusting by spraying it off whenever road salt or chemicals kick up on it during the winter that could eat the paint. If you start to see any rust forming you can use a wire brush to clean it off and then repaint the hitch with some automotive grade black paint. If you live closer to the ocean the salt water can definitely expedite the paint's decomposition so you may need to look into another type of paint that better suits your climate.

Hey Dave, how has your EcoHitch held up after following those cleaning and repainting steps? Knowing how well the paint protection worked could help others keep their hitches in good shape too.

@RobinH Hi Robin, This year we used the Ecohitch maybe fifteen times to haul bikes. So far the original paint has held up! The pin hole location is kind of far back and sometimes means getting on hands and knees to install. Overall, very glad to have this on the LEAF.
