Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Optronics 12 volt or 24 volt LED RV step area light. Now, this LED step light will illuminate a step well, or the area at the base of your steps, or your ramp. This is perfect for buses, RVs, and closed trailers, or even boats. The LEDs they use make great replacements for incandescent lights 'cause they'll last 50 times longer and they're more efficient. They provide brighter light with less power output, and of course, no bulbs to replace or brittle filaments that are gonna break.
And on LEDs, they do give you a lifetime warranty. Now this is a clear lens with five white LEDs, you can see here. And what I'm gonna do is hook this up to some power just to show you how bright it is. So once we get it hooked up here, we'll go ahead and turn on the power. And with the power on, you'll be able to see how the LED lights come on.
I'm gonna go ahead and turn off the overhead lights just to give you an idea how bright it is. You can see those five LEDs light up a pretty bright area. If we go, let's zoom back out, and then I can turn it here in the area and you can see how bright it is. So it gives a very large area. Then turn back on our overhead lights.
We'll zoom back in. Gonna go ahead and turn off our power. Now this is all in a die cast aluminum housing, which is rust-proof. Does have a nice white coating on it to protects against corrosion and damage that can be caused by UV rays. Now this is compatible with 12 volt DC and 24 revolt DC systems.
The power draw on this at 12.8 volts is 0.25 amps. Now, it is designed to surface mount to your RV or your trailer. The hardware to install it is not included. You can see it as a two wire pigtail. It includes both the power wire and the ground wire. And this light does meet the ADA lighting standards. Few dimensions on this. Overall length of it, if we go from one end to the other, is right at four inches. Width of it, the widest point right in the middle here is two and a half inches wide. When it's installed, the height of it from the bottom to the top is gonna be right about one and five 16th inches tall. And the distance between the mounting holes, you can see the two mounting holes right here. So if we go in the back center to center on those is right at about two and 15 16th inches. But that should do it for the review on this Optronics 12 volt, 24 volt LED RV step area light.

Good. I put 1 on front of each fender pointing down as a cheap way to cast light on the ground and the front of the trailer wheels - to see the wheel edges while driving on narrow dark roads.
It works. I was hoping it would cast a wider light, out over the edge of the road, not the couple foot area it lights up. But it works.
It would for sure light up a license plate. It's a bright light.
This was purchased to replace an incandescent bulb in my trailer tongue jack. I mounted the light behind the opaque lens cover and hooked the wires up to the switch. It’s a lot brighter than the single incandescent lamp it replaced.

I was looking for an LED license plate light that put out lots of light and didnt look flimsy. I liked the looks of this light on the web page, and it looked as good when I pulled it out of the box. Its listed as a step light, but so I figured it would be plenty bright for a license plate. The wires are decent size considering the low current it pulls. Ive seen reviews on other LED lights that said the wires were so small that you couldnt even strip them back without breaking them. I dont have a picture at night, but look how bright it is even during the daylight picture I attached. By the way, this shows 12/24 volts. I tested it with a 6 volt flashlight battery, and it works off that as well. Great light - I highly recommend it.

LED lights are bright, I'm impressed with this rv step light build quality and light output.
This replace the step light on my fifth wheel. The Chinese pie e of junk was pitiful. Tge cheap place lens blew off and the light from a bulb about the size of a pencil eraser was poor. I ordered this and the quality was evident when I opened the package. Heavy aluminum housing with white powdercoat. LED light is bright white and illuminated steps much better.
THIS LIGHT WORKED PERFECT FOR OUR RV STEPS, EASY TO INSTALL.
I have a small, fiberglass camper that needed a “porch light” to see to unlock the door at night... Because it is such a small camper/travel trailer, most lights were too big and/or didn’t have enough wall space to mount and look right. Also, most are made with cheap plastic housing, which deteriorates fairly quickly in constant sun exposure (e.g. storing my camper outside without a cover). ... THIS stair light is AWESOME!! It is the perfect size, is made of durable powder-coated-painted metal, AND has really, really bright illumination!! So pleased with the quality of this light!
