Replacement Parts Needed For The Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT Bike Rack

Question:

I have a Thule double track pro 2 that is missing the plastic cover that allows you to lower and raise the rack. How can I get that piece.

I've attached a parts diagram of the Thule DoubleTrack # TH92BJ. Are you needing just the covers (part 26) that go over the tilt latch or are you needing something else?

@PaulT That part unfortunately is not a replaceable item since it's part of a larger assembly and Thule doesn't offer that assembly as a separate part. You can try giving them a call and seeing if they might have a damaged Doubletrack that you could take the assembly off of so that you can get your rack back in working order, otherwise you'll need to swap to a new rack altogether.

@KevinC thanks for the info. Do you have any diy fixes? I’ve been using a divot fixer to manually do it. Any better options? Tx

@PaulT I actually own this bike rack so I went and grabbed it and took it apart. That light gray circle button that lets you raise or lower the frame post pulls on a spring-loaded pin that has a shear pin connecting it to the button. If your button is gone/broken/etc. you can use a split key ring to pull the spring-loaded pin out and allow the post to move. You can typically pick up a pack of split key rings at most hardware or department stores for about a buck. The key ring could also be attached something else that would give you a better grip to pull with if needed. It obviously won't be the prettiest but it'll make the rack functional again. I've attached some pictures of the pin I'm talking about above.
