Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a brief look at this replacement locking ratchet arm assembly for the Thule T2 hitch bike rack or Sidearm roof mount rack. If you need to replace a locking ratchet arm on your Thule T2 hitch bike rack or your Sidearm roof mounted bike rack, then this is what you are going to need. Now, on your screen, I am listing our item numbers of the T2 and Sidearm bike racks that this will fit. Now, this is going to provide the mounting point for the T2 or Sidearm ratcheting hook assembly.
And this is going to require Phillips screws and nylon insert lock nuts for installation and those are sold separately. And the Thule One Key System lock and lock plug are also sold separately. I ordered these locking arms after discovering my old ones would slide open even when locked. The racheting system seems to work better than the old ones (maybe just because they are new) and lock well. I was a little disappointed that they did not have the cables inside the arm, like my old ones did, but I took the cables from my old pair and made them work with these.
Bought new arms for my Thule rack to accomadate 29" wheels. Much cheaper option than buying a new rack. Arm's arrived on time from etrailer but unfortunately one had a very bent bottom bracket I had to deal with. Had to try to bend it back in place and thankfully had the tools to do so. Another buyer could have been stuck returning it. 2nd Arm came in perfect so may be a fluke. Would buy again from etrailer but giving this three stars

Part is perfect. I have an original sportworks bike rack and the company sold to Thule and has been replaced by the T2. I was so happy to find the locking ratchet arm from etrailer.com which fits my rack because mine cracked and wore out. The new one is actually longer and will fit a 29r now. Im ordering another to replace the other old arm. I have upgraded for a very reasonable investment. Everything fits and works perfect. Thank you etrailer.com
The replacement locking ratchet arm assembly I recently ordered was all I hoped it would be in that every part and fastener required to install it on the trailer hitch Thule 2 bike rack fit perfectly. I was very pleased that (A) it could be accomplished and (B) the parts were still available despite this particular rack being discontinued. A fine product. Many thanks.
The replacement arms are longer than the original ones that came on my carrier. I can carry almost any bike now without having to let air out of the front tires. Works great. I plan on buying 2 more for my rack extension.
I bought this to replace the ratchet arm on an older Thule T2 Hitch Mount Rack to accommodate 5" snow bike and 29+ wheels. The arm is about 2" longer than the older model and makes all the difference on the fit (helps to have the wider tray for the front wheel). It measures about 27" end to center of mount versus about 25" on the older model.
If you've ever suffered through Thule's customer service, skip the headache and order here. It's not inexpensive, but allowed me to bring new life to an older rack instead of needlessly replacing. I do suggest ordering replacement fasteners as you go. Overall a very good experience.
We have a classic Thule T2 bike rack that we bought way back in 2009-just before 29ers were a big thing. The old ratchet arms were too short for our new 2020 ebikes. These new replacement arms are 2” longer and work perfectly! Easy to replace. Ordering and shipping from trailer.com was so easy as well. Would recommend!

The replacement part arrived next day. Very easy to install. Now my 2 bike rack is like new.
Fantastic replacement part, used with a replacement base rail too, be sure to purchase two new screws to mount if yours may be rusty, also may be good to source the roll pins needed if using a replacement rail for the pivot bushing, I was able to pound out the originals and replace.

I damage a number of parts on my Thule rack crashing into my garage.
Fortunately all of the parts that were damaged were available from etrailer
The parts came quickly and in no time the rack was good as new.
Just what. Needed to update my old tack to fit 29 inch wheels
The part fit perfectly on the rack. I wish I had paid more attention to the part. My old one had the cable lock. This one came without it. I thought you would be able to interchange them, but it’s still OK. The ratchet has a key lock so that works just fine. I am happy with my purchase.
This is the second replacement arm I have purchased. straightforward if you’re riding a fat bike or 29 only challenge is potentially getting the old bolts out.
Everything arrived on time. The replacement arms fit my 29” mtn. bike perfectly.
Re-iterating that this is the correct arm to upgrade your old arms (that were for max 26" wheels) to these arms which perfectly fit (with some room to spare) 29" wheels. What I might add to this review is to not be confused by the Item #... if you look at the old arm, they are the same Item # as this version. At some point, Thule replaced it with the longer arm. Not sure what year this would've been. In summary, all good by ordering this Item # to fit 29" wheels (and the wheel foam part and screws fit perfectly from the old version to this one).
If the rack was designed better we wouldn’t have had to replace it. That’s on Thule nor Etrailer.
I have an old Thule 916 rack that could only work for 27.5" tires. I got a new bike with 29" tires, so this arm hook was the perfect fix. I only replaced one arm for my bike, left the other originals for my kid's bikes. It took about an hour to replace the arm with the locks from the old arm. Works perfect for my new 29" bike!
