Updated 11/11/2024 | Published 10/31/2024

Question:

hi there, i need to replace a safety strap on a Thule Yepp Maxi bike seat. While I can find the replacement part Replacement Safety Strap for Thule Yepp Nexxt Maxi Child Bike Seats - Rack Mount Part Number: TH29YH i cannot find any info on HOW TO replace the part. Would you be able to offer any guidance? comments, thoughts, and, ideally, reassurance would be super welcome. Thanks!

Hello Carlos, thanks for reaching out. I do have some info that will be helpful for you, but there are sadly no written instruction for the Replacement Safety Strap # TH29YH. Looking at one of these seats, replacing the strap looks to be as easy as unscrewing the three screws under the seat compartment where the strap is attached. Remove the screws, remove the strap and replace it, then put the screws back in. I hope this helps, and let me know if you need anything else.

you're the man Jesse, thank you so much. I'll give it a shot and report back. Note: Thule got back to me and said this "It appears the strap end should pull out of the child seat. There looks to be a molded "plug" on the end of the strap that helps hold the strap to the child seat. I don't show any hardware in my schematic, but I would take a look at the square frame the strap plugs into to see if there is anything that needs to be removed or depressed to release it. I don't have an instruction manual for it's replacement, but do know that our product managers wouldn't offer the strap as a replacement part if there wasn't a way to replace it." Thoughts?

@CarlosC So I actually got the instructions I gave you directly from Thule too. They did say to have you make sure your child seat was actually a model that uses the TH29YH strap which are the Thule Yepp Nexxt Maxi (12080211, 12080212, or 12080215). Like they said, why make a replacement strap if there is no way to replace it. There might be a few different mounting styles for this strap but I feel like if you take a look at the bottom of your seat it should be fairly evident what needs to be removed to release the strap. I wish I had more concrete instructions for you here but there must be a way to do it.

@CarlosC . My safety strap broke to and tried to replace it. Mission impossible if you seat is a Yepp Maxi. There is no way to replace it, but if you call them Thule you will get a new seat for free (what I did). Not sure if that’s your case. You can only replace the safety strap on newer models. My advice is for you to call Thule Thule customer support and figure out. They are great !
