Is Curt a Solid Hitch Choice for a 2022 GMC Terrain
Published 10/24/2024 >
Question:
frame failure I have a 22 GMC terrain that a ReeceRigid hitch has pulled through the frame with only 110lbs of tongue weight. Your Curt hitch seems to spread out the weight better by using different mounting holes. Have to ever seen this? Is it a known issue? I want to try Curt

Hey Mike, thanks for reaching out!
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C77FR that fits your 2022 GMC Terrain should have the same mounting hole dimensions and locations as any other hitch designed for your vehicle, including the Rigid hitch from Reese Hitches although the physical size of their hitch looks a bit different.
As long as the Curt hitch is installed properly it can handle up to a 4,500 lb trailer and 675 lbs of tongue weight even though it looks like you're limited to 1,500 lbs towing/150 lbs tongue because of what GM has rated your vehicle for.
One final thought is that if the Rigid hitch busted, then replacing it with the Curt is just fine. You will encounter issues though if the Rigid hitch caused damaged to the frame of your Terrain.
Attached is an installation video and photo of the Curt on a 2022 Terrain for your reference.

Thanks for your reply, it was very helpful. I have an additional question. If the tongue weight it limited to 150lbs, does that take into account the "bouncing" on the tongue traveling with a 110lbs of tongue weight? or would that bounce put me over the limit of 150?
