Question:
Hello. I need a hitch for a 2023 Equinox LT. I will primarily use it for a KUAT bike rack and occasionally tow a UHAUL trailer. Which hitch has the best ground clearance? If I decide to add the light package at a later time, would I need to remove the rack to do it. Thank you

We installed all of these hitches on the same 2023 Chevy equinox and found the ground and bumper clearances to be 11" and 5" respectively so I recommend going with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e59ZR because of the black matte finish. I had the etrailer hitch installed on my 2010 Chevy Equinox and that finish not only did a great job at protecting the steel from road debris, but it also looked great with the darker bumper - so you'll be getting great looks and durability with this hitch.
Then for wiring I recommend picking up Curt wiring:
- With Tow Package # C94FR
- Without Tow Package # C59236
The wiring can be installed at a later time without removing the hitch, but it's honestly just easier to get it all done at the same time that way you have everything you need at a moments notice instead of having to get the wiring shipped and then installed when you decide you need to tow. The wiring brackets # C57202 and # BK4F are also something I recommend picking up so you can keep the 4-Way sitting right next to your hitch receiver instead of draping it over the bumper and closing your hatch on it.
If you want to be fully prepped for towing then the Curt Towing Starter Kit # C45534 is a great way to round out your towing setup. I towed a few trailers with my Equinox and found that a 2" drop like this was great for smaller trailers, but I'm also linking our ball mount article for you to check out to make sure you get the right ball mount the first time!
