Can I Upgrade The Thermostat In My 2015 Cruise Lite 26’

Updated 10/23/2024 | Published 10/19/2024

Question:

I have a 2015 Cruise Lite 26’. Can the thermostat be changed out for a controller that has various settings? High, low, and starts and stops as it hits temperature? Our current controller just has heat, cool and fan. Stays on all the time.

Hello Wayne, thanks for reaching out. It may be possible to swap out the thermostat in your 2015 Cruise Lite 26', but the available options will depend on what brand of AC unit you have currently. There is no way to look this up so I will need you to confirm the brand.

For example, if you have a Furrion brand AC, you could switch to their Premium Wall Thermostat # FR33PR. This has 4 operation modes and 2 different fan speeds. This will only work with the Furrion Chill HE Aid Conditioners such as part # FR26PR. Let me know what brand AC you have and I am happy to look into it and see what we can offer you.

On the inside of the camper, on the ceiling unit, it says: Domestic Duo-Therm Would that be the brand name of the unit that I have or do I need to go up to the roof and look at the unit there?

@WayneT Ok great that is the brand of your AC unit also, the Dometic Duo Therm. We offer one compatible replacement thermostat for this, the Replacement Single Zone Thermostat for Dometic RV Air Conditioners # DMC79FR. This unit is Bluetooth compatible so it will have the additional settings and functions you are looking for.

@JesseM Awesome. I just want to confirm with you. My current controller works. I’m looking to get a controller that will allow the unit to turn off when it reaches temperature, so that the unit is not continuously running all the time.

@WayneT Yes so this will be a lot more like the thermostat you have inside your home. It has an internal temp sensor so you can set your desired temperature and the AC will turn off when it reaches that temp. You can set the temp using the arrows on the thermostat or with your smartphone if you connect via Bluetooth. Just keep in mind that the placement of the thermostat inside the camper will affect the temperature reading, so you wouldn't want to have the thermostat directly below the ceiling register for example.
