Recommended Upgraded Furrion AC System That Has A Better Air Distribution Box

Question:

Im looking for an upgrade air distribution box / vent for a Furrion RV Ac model # FACT12CA-PS. The Ac system is a non-ducted. The OEM cover divider between the cold air output and return vent is poorly sealed. I believe this is resulting in the coils freezing. Also the single output vent restricts the cold air flow too much adding further to the freezing problem. Not to mention, one single vent blowing straight down does little to distribute cool air throughout the camper. The ceiling mounted ac cover has no controls, its all controled by wall mount thermostat. Looking for a replacement vent to not restrict airflow and better distributed flow. Thanks

I recommend upgrading your Furrion Chill system with the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR85PV which is a 13.5K BTU system.

This system comes with the upgraded air distribution box # FACT12LA-PS which has 2 slotted registers to provide maximum airflow, 7 different color settings, and EVA foam to add a seal between the RV and ceiling to prevent leaks.

I am dealing with this exact issue with the FACT12CA-PS and replaced it with the FACT12LA-PS, neither of those worked well enough, better off sticking with the FACT12CA-PS even though it shoots straight down, the newer version will restrict the flow by dividing between front and rear and most will come out the rear. The FACT12LA-PS will also restrict the air return by about 50%, the airflow only really travels along the roofline and the dampers close in the upward direction, you can't direct the air anywhere. It would work fine for a ducted system since you would just bypass the vents by closing them, but then you are still getting less air through the return. The reason the evaporator is freezing, is from lack of airflow to sufficiently warm the coils. The only solution is to leave the fan on low or high and not put it on auto. Also, make sure your freeze sensor is still attached to the evaporator, mine wasn't, but it still froze after being installed correctly. I have contacted Furrion support and they offered no help in the matter. The other issue with this whole system is that the temp sensor is located in the air return duct, this causes the compressor to short cycle, and severely decreases the effectiveness of the A/C since the compressor was just shut down, it will not turn back on until it has reached the pre-determined cool down period. We had trouble keeping the unit cool when it was 90 outside and parked in the shade, it was also hard to determine the actual temp due to the aforementioned temp sensor location, it would show cold and then jump several degrees. Your best solution would be to extend the room temp sensor from the ADB to literally anywhere else as long as cold air isn't being blown directly on it.
