Best Rear Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2010 Toyota Tundra Double Cab with Camper

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/07/2024

Question:

Hello, I have a 2010 Tundra Double cab, 4WD and am getting a slide-in truck camper that weighs 1,100 lbs. My understanding, is that I should get some sort of rear suspension upgrade to support this load. Is that correct? Could you walk me through the best and cheapest options for my truck? Im also curious how the Daystar cradles fit into the equation. Thanks!

Hey Joe, the best suspension enhancement kit we offer for your 2010 Toyota Tundra is the Roadactive kit part # RAS34FR. This is easy to install, maintenance free, and improves ride quality and handlining loaded and unloaded which is basically unheard of.

The best bang for your buck is the Hellwig EZ-990 # HE86VR which has by far the best price. It basically adds a leaf to your rear suspension for more support. If you are wanting something that costs less and will do an excellent job but not quite adjustable this would be the way to go.

Hey Joe, how did things work out with the suspension upgrade for your Tundra and camper setup? Did the RoadActive kit or the Hellwig springs give you the support you needed? Your update could make it easier for others hauling similar campers.
