Does Entire Curt Base Plate Kit For 2019 Ford Ranger Need to be Purchased to Replace Damage

Question:

Love your product. After 5 years of my 2019 Ranger being towed behind my motorhome the passenger side failed. The bolts sheared bent the mount but the safety cable held with no damage to anything but the passenger right side mount which broke the skid plate weld and bent the mount to the frame. Can I purchase the bracket and bolts for that side only or do I need to purchase the entire mount? Thank you, Mike

Hi Michael,

I'm very happy that the safety cables held, that's really nice to hear and I'm glad there was no serious damage. As for the Curt Custom Base Plate Kit # C64ER, they don't have replacement brackets and bolts, so you would need to get the entire mount.

Kyle, Thanks for the info. I will get one ordered this evening. The two bolts that mounted the plate to the frame sheared off smoothly with the frame. They will be a challenge to extract. My best guess is the bolts were over-torqued during installation as we had no traumatic incidents with the coach or vehicle which would have caused this. Oh well, life goes on. Thanks, Mike
