Routing Trailer Wiring Harness Power Wire to the Battery on a 2011 Jetta SportWagen
Question:
I just purchased a wiring harness kit 56146KIT for a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. Do you have any tips on where to run the lead to the battery? Under car? Inside? Ill be doing this without the benefit of a lift so Id like to know the best way to get the wire from the rear of the car to the battery. Thank you.

You will want to run your power wire through the wheel well (through the grommet) and along the bottom of the vehicle and up to the engine compartment, all the while making sure to stay away from moving parts such as steering and suspension components that can pinch or damage the wire. Also stay away from an excess of heat which can melt and damage the wire. You could follow another wiring harness and use zip ties to hold it up in various places.
I have linked you to the installation instructions.
