Question:
Hi! I have a 2012 Airstream Bambi 16RB and am looking to replace the protechtor series 2001 LP detector. Do you have a model that is a compatible replacement for this? Ideally it can fit in the same hole or at least the mounting place can cover the existing hole. Also I havent had any issues but understand this should be replaced roughly every seven years. I am assuming it would be a good idea to replace if this one is now 12 years old? Thanks!

Hello Kit, thanks for reaching out. With your current Protechtor LP deterctor being 12 years old, it is definitely out of date and needs to be replaced. 5-7 years is the expected lifespan of most detectors. Our best option for replacing your Protechtor unit is the RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS34FR. This is currently the only model of gas detector we offer and this one works for LP propane gas and carbon monoxide. This unit is 4-1/4" long x 2-5/8" wide so it is a bit smaller than your current unit. It comes with a small bracket that is 5-3/4" long x 4-1/4" wide or a large bracket that is 7-1/4" long x 3-3/8" wide, so you may need to modify your cutout slightly to allow this to fit. This detector has a 5-year lifespan.

Hey Kit, how did the new RV propane and carbon monoxide detector work out in your Airstream Bambi? Did the bracket cover the old mounting hole the way you needed? Your update could make it easier for the next person replacing an older Protechtor unit.
