Question:

looking to replace an OLD propane detector in a pop up, This is the part I have that is old and not working see pictures looking at your Atwood 36720 RV Propane Gas Detector - 12V DC, White. Will this work? Im not worried about mounting/size I can make it fit- just want to make sure it will work with my pop up. You have always been great with help on on the products I have purchased from you over the years- thanks in advance.

I wasn't able to find the Atwood 36720 RV Propane Gas Detector you mention, however I was still able to find the RV Propane Gas Detector # RS64FR in white, or # RS44FR in black to work as a replacement for your Protechtor Series 2001 LP Gas Detector.

This replacement will work with virtually any alarm, so it is likely to work with yours as well, and features the same two wire design as your current Protechtor Series 2001.

I have a 98 Newmar Mountainaire it has the proteghter 2001 on it. It was working fone till I shorted out wiring close it it. It won't light up at all. Any ideas?

@BryanB So it just sounds like it's still shorted out. I'd recommend replacing the wiring and check again.

@BryceD I have a Protechtor in my American Eagle coach and about every 45 sec it sends out a short single chirp that drives my wife crazy. Is it supposed to do that ?? If it is, is there any way of turning it off without disconnecting the detector completely?? There is a green light that flashes about every 6 sec. I assume to tell you it's working.

@JoeM Hey Joe, a Protechtor gas detector that's chirping every 45 seconds is likely a low battery alert or a signal that the detector is nearing the end of its lifespan and needs to be replaced. It could also indicate a potential gas leak, although this is less likely with a regular chirping pattern.

@DanielD Hey Daniel, it sounds like your detector is expired. They have a lifespan of 5-7 years so if your detector is original from 2001 it definitely needs to be replaced.
