Having a propane gas leak in your RV is a scary situation that you don't want to even think about let alone experience. But this detector will give you peace of mind knowing that if there are dangerous levels of propane, it'll quickly and accurately warn you and your family so you can get out of the RV and into fresh air.

Hard-to-Miss Visual and Audible Cues

When propane gas is detected, the red LED will come on, and the horn will be constant. And because the sensor is highly selective, it's designed to only sound the alarm for lethal propane gas, reducing the number of false alarms that occur in non-threatening scenarios.

It'll also alert you when the battery is low or when the detector has reached the end of its life and needs to be replaced, so you never have to be without protection.

Easy to Test and Silence

RV Safe Propane Detector

To double check that the detector is operating normally, you can easily use the button on the front to test the propane sensor and battery voltage. You should test your detector every time it's taken out of storage and before it's taken out for each camping trip. This button also lets you silence the horn up to 5 minutes during non-life-threatening situations. So, you can turn off that annoying racket in the middle of the night while you're trying to hunt for a new battery.

Surface-Mount, Bolt-On Installation

The 2 included universal mounting brackets allow this detector to replace 90 percent of all OEM surface-mount and flush-mount detectors. This detector can replace most Atwood and Dometic branded detectors, as well as Safe-T-Alert 20 series, 25 series, 30 series, 35 series, 40 series, 45 series, and 65 series detectors.

Because propane gas is heavier than air, it'll settle near the floor, so this detector should be installed 4" to 18" from the floor to accurately detect the presence of gas. Also make sure that the detector is located in an area that isn't near a window or door, behind furniture or drapes, or in a closet. It also shouldn't be installed with 24" near a stove, oven, fridge, or furnace.

Easy to install. Hope it lasts a while we will see.

by:

easy to install.

by:

Order came quickly and in good condition. I found etrailer very dependable to do business with.

by:

Installation was difficult because the screws holding the unit to the surround plastic were too long and had to be shortened with a Dremel tool.
I was happy that it was a newly manufactured unit with full five years of use.

by:

Ordered this as a replacement for a discontinued model. Live chat was very helpful in locating the right replacement. I will not be installing it until May 3rd when camp opens.

Great product! Easy install and perfect fit.

by:

Good replacement for my 30 year-old, original gas detector on an Alpenlite cab-over camper. The bolt hole pattern is the same for mounting screws, and it draws less current than the original. The green 'On' LED doubles as a low-intensity night light. I checked the detector's sensitivity with some puffs from a propane tank and it activated the alarm reliably, then reset after the air cleared.
Summary: Good replacement; easy to mount; doubles as a low-intensity night light; works reliably.

by:

I've had this item for a while, it was easy to hook up and it works like new. Love the fact it has a green light that I can see to assure me that the air I'm breathing is safe.

by:

We got it for a replacement. It works. It came with 2 different mounting plates to cover any hole you might have.

by:

It came as stated - was exactly what was stated

by:

Thank you, thank you!! Customer service excellent!!!

by:

Nice flush unit. Nice it comes with 2 mounting plates. Very simple install. THANKYOU!

by:

Easy to install, and low profile. The holes didn't match up with the old Safe T alarm so I just drilled one new one, but it does come with 2 different back plates to cover any larger hole if you need to. Just connect red and black wires on unit to existing camper wires with wire nuts, or whatever connections you prefer. I tested the alarm with a lighter and it worked. Time will tell how long it lasts, before it needs replaced. My original one lasted about 3 years before it started going off in the middle of the night for no reason. It was a safe T brand. Overall, this one was priced right and is doing the job so far.

by:

I think it looks good and was very easy to install, didn’t fit the hole the old one came out of but with the new flush mount that came with it, it covered the hole just right very pleased.

It has been a year sense I have installed the detector, it hasn’t failed any self test are a real actual event where a bottle change had took place, went to town filled up empty bottle got a bite for lunch, only to return with the detectors alarm going off loud enough to hear from the outside. Vented the trailer reset the alarm. The problem was one knob on the stove was just a hair from the click off position. I do rest easy knowing that my new detector is sensitive and reliable. You need to get you one, I’ll buy it again if needed.

by:

Easy to install. Has worked perfectly since I installed it one year ago.

by:

Great replacement

by:

Old detector failed and this one screwed right back into the original position. Wired up, warmed up and works perfectly!

This was a replacement for an old Atwood gas detector. It was easy to connect to the old wires and one of the included bases fit over the existing opening. It only took this non electrical person to less then 10 minutes to install.

Installation was easy, I replaced an existing detector in my travel trailer using the existing wiring.

by:

My previous monitor was twenty years old and drawing down my batteries. This new one draws less power, that’s a plus. But now they come with an end of life notification built in. Replacing every 5 years seems short but oh well.
Installation was easy although I used a much smaller drill bit to pre drill screw holes.
Also having two options for backing plates came in handy.

This is my second purchase from etrailer, very good customer service. Thank you

by:

I installed this detector in my 2017 Winnebago travel trailer after the original reached its end of life. Installation was easy to wire up and the detector worked immediately after I turned on the power. I did replace the included screws for the cover plate with longer ones. I'm only giving four stars at this point because I didn't release propane to see if the detector actually will work but I'm confident that it will.
