How to Run a Charge Line to a 4-Way Connector

Updated 02/25/2025 | Published 09/06/2024

Question:

I have a 2017 Ram 5500 chasis RV. I want to connect its round 7 pin trailer connector to your Part Number: C96JR 4 pin Jeep tow harness. But I want to add the RVi Brake towed batter charger so Ill need to add a hot and a ground to the four wires in Part C96JR. Will Curt part C59HR Cord be the proper cable for my needs? Thanks, Casey

Yes, it will! You'll want to cut off the 4-way connector of the Curt Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles item # C96JR and install the 6-way connector that comes with the Curt Tow Bar 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord w/ 6-Way Socket item # C59HR.

With the 6-way installed you can use the included cord to connect it with the 7-Way on your RV. The center pin on the 6-way is wired for 12V power so this is where you'll want to connect your RVi Brake towed battery charger.

I have added a diagram below that will show you the correct way to wire up the 6-way connector.

@Ron 14 gauge wire. You can use the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles item # RM-156-25, which includes the circuit breaker and connections.
