Is The Curt C96JR Tail Light Kit Compatible With A Brake Buddy Brake System?

Question:

ordered a c96jr tail light kit so i can pull my 2023 gladiator behind my MH will the break lights work with the turn signal lights if i use a break buddy as my stopping system or do i need something else thanks

Hello John. The # C96JR tail light kit for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator will indeed work with a Brake Buddy brake System Such as part # HM39524. So, if you plan to use a portable brake system, that is definitely what I recommend, and you do not need to get something else.

Hey Jesse, I see you said that you need nothing else on this system. I am getting ready to order & install on my 22 Gladiator to tow behind my motorhome. I have read so many different things about having a direct wire system, even the ones with the splice diodes, and keep coming across something about needing a brake light relay because if you have motorhome turn signals on and the brake buddy pushes pedal down and activates brake lights, it will cancel the turn signals. Do the built in diodes have some kind of built in relay to prevent this? Thanks!!

@MikeK Our records show that the relay is generally not needed with the '23 Gladiators, but it is possible that you may need one. The relay is Item # RM-88400. We came up with a questionerre that will help you determine if a relay is needed or not. See below: Are you using a supplemental braking system that depresses the brake pedal in your towed car? No - You do not need a brake light relay. Yes - You may need a brake light relay. Continue on to the next question. Do the brake lights on your towed car illuminate while the engine is off? No - You do not need a brake light relay. Yes - You may need a brake light relay. Continue on to the next question. Do your towed car's brake lights act as both the brake signals and the turn signals? No - You may need a brake light relay. Continue on to the next question. Yes - Your towed car has a combined lighting system. You will need a brake light relay to ensure proper activation of its signal lights. Does your towed car have separate brake lights and turn signals? No - Your towed car has a combined lighting system. You will need a brake light relay. Yes - Your towed car has a separate lighting system. You may need a brake light relay. Continue on to the next question. Are you wiring your vehicle with a six-diode kit or a custom wiring harness? No - You will need a brake light relay to ensure proper activation of your towed car's signal lights. Yes - You do not need a brake light relay.

@JesseM , Thanks for the reply, I ordered the Curt custom wiring harness for the Gladiator. I guess, we shall see when I install it, got my fingers crossed!!
