Will 17" Tires Fit 2000 Kendon Fold Up Motorcycle Trailer

Updated 09/11/2024 | Published 09/04/2024

Question:

I want to upgrade my older 2000 Kendon fold up motorcycle trailer with 17inch 6x130 wheels and off-road tires. Do you have replacement hubs or other parts that Id need to do this? Its a 2k axle with 1 and 1/16 spindles. I understand Ill have to make other changes like the fenders etc. but I want to have the same wheels on my trailer and rig if at all possible so want to start there.

Hi Chris; I'm sorry to say I don't think you will be able to add the 17" wheels and tires to your 2000 Kendon Motorcycle Trailer. It looks like that comes with 13" wheels and tires from the factory. The larger tires aren't going to have the necessary clearance to fit the trailer. Even if you removed the fender, the 17" tires will be quite a bit wider so they will likely make contact with the trailer on the inside of the tire.

Also, the hubs that fit an axle with # L44649 inner and outer bearings only go up to a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. I'm sure the wheels you want to use require a larger bolt pattern which means they won't fit without replacing the axle. Replacing the axle is a possible option, but you will need to know the hub face length to see if there is a suitable replacement.

You will also need to know the bolt pattern from the wheels you want to use. It would be helpful to measure the clearance you have on the inside of the tire as well. If you get all of that information it may be possible to mount a slightly longer axle with different hubs to make this all fit but that is assuming the right parts are available to make it work.
