Are Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops Compatible With Spacers
Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/24/2024 >
Question:
I can I use the spacers from an SES kit on the offroad bump stops? I bought the ABSOSR kit from here and went back and forth about it vs the SES kit. I haul weight and I also offroad. I dont want to loose all the suspension articulation. TIMBREN said I chose the wrong kit for hauling but i just need like 500-1000 pounds extrasupport. But that is half what I do with the truck. I would say the tortun4L regular duty 3k kit would be perfect for my use but Timbren wont sell me just the spring to use. I have a 2023 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Crew cab with the 4 leaf rear springs. If I use the spacer, the spring will engage sooner and provide more support. It shouldnt mess with shock travel limits because even if the spring touches the frame full time the shock will not compress over factory limits and the stop does not limit shock extended length. Thanks, Dustin

Hi Dustin; according to Timbren the # TABSOSR cannot be used with spacers. To get the support you want without switching kits I would try reaching out to Timbren again since they do have a satisfaction guarantee.
When they have been here in the past they told us if a customer reaches out to them and says they are too stiff or not stiff enough they are willing to make new ones and adjust it so they're happy with the product. I don't think we have seen anyone try this yet but that came directly from their reps so I'm assuming they will honor it. I wouldn't use their chat since that might give them a chance to easily dismiss the idea, better to give them a call at 1-800-263-3113.

Hey Dustin, were you able to talk with Timbren about adjusting your off-road bump stops for the extra support you need? Knowing what they offered could help others trying to balance hauling and off-road use with their Tacoma. Your experience might point others in the right direction.
