Question:
I need to purchase trailer hitch with load stabilization for older travel trailer, which has a lower suspension. However my 2023 GMC Yukon is made for newer trailers with higher suspension. This causes an unlevel ride in my older trailer, higher in front/lower in back, causing back to drag. Do you have any Suggestions on a trailer hitch that will work for me?

Hi Kevin,
You're just needing a weight distribution hitch with a larger drop shank. To pick out the right one we'll first need to know the tongue of the trailer while it's fully loaded. You can do this with a tongue weight scale # BTBRV44FR or you can measure using a highway weigh station.
Next you'll need to measure to see what size drop shank you need. To do this you'll measure down to the ground from the top of the inside of the trailer hitch receiver tube. On the trailer you'll need to measure from the bottom of the coupler to ground while the trailer is level. The difference between these two measurements will be the drop needed.
I've attached a couple of help articles below to help walk you through the measuring process. Once you know the tongue weight and drop needed let me know and I'd be happy to pick out the right weight distribution hitch for your setup.

Kevin C Thanks for getting back to me. The tongue weight using house scale was 627 lbs. (scale at 2 ft and 2x4 at 1 ft = 190 lbs. x 3 = 570 lbs. + 10% Error = 627 lbs.). The truck hitch receptacle height (with truck level) at upper inside of tube = 22 in. Trailer coupler height (with trailer level) at bottom of coupler = 16 in I am need of a hitch with leveling bars and 2 and 5/16 ball. Kevin T
