Solution for Brake Controller Install on Leased 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee that Won't Modify Dash

Updated 02/17/2026 | Published 06/21/2024

Question:

Hello, I recently purchased a C24VV Curt TriFlex NEXT Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional for a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Laredo. I used the supplied tape for the mounting bracket as this is a corporate lease vehicle and I don’t want to drill holes. The controller keeps falling down off the tape. I have cleaned the area with alcohol and added additional high quality 3m double sided tape with the same results a few days later. Do you have a recommendation of a better tape or method to secure without screws? Thank you, John

Hey John, so it's probably the heat when the car is parked that is breaking down the adhesive and causing the controller to fall. So anything that uses an adhesive is probably out so that does make it challenging to come up with a secure way to mount the controller without modifying the vehicle. If there's any brackets that are under the dash that you could zip tie the controller to that could MAYBE work.

Otherwise going to a wireless controller like the Curt Echo part # C79DR which installs inline with the 7-way at the rear of your vehicle so it would bypass all the issues.

Hey John, did you end up finding a way to keep the TriFlex NEXT controller secure in your Grand Cherokee without using screws? Your results could really help others trying to mount theirs in a leased vehicle too.
