Does Curt Hitch for 2024 Chevy Blazer EV Require Removing Rear Bumper
Updated 06/13/2024 | Published 06/05/2024 >
Question:
Do you have a video out for this C63ZV hitch mount on a 2024 chevy blazer EV? It seems impossible to mount the receiver on the vehicle without removing the entire bumper, which I cannot do. I have looked at all of the instructions fully. Can you help me please.

Hey Robert, so at this time we do not have an install video for the Curt Hitch part # C63ZV on a 2024 Chevy Blazer EV yet but hopefully we do soon. If you check out the attached install instruction link though you can see that this does not require removing the rear bumper or anything drastic at all.

The statement that installation of the hardware "does not require removing the rear bumper or anything drastic at all", while consistent with the manufacturer's poor instructions, is factually incorrect. The only instruction provided, with no graphic support, is "Raise the hitch into position rotating the main body behind the bumper cover." This step can only be accomplished by placing two objects in the same place at the same time, which is impossible. One direction of rotation places the receiver into the bumper cover; the other places the mounting plates into the bottom of the vehicle. It will be necessary to remove the rear bumper cover. Additionally, the rear bumper cover contained a significant projection of plastic on the passenger side that did not appear on Curt's installation instructions pictures, which also made following the instructions impossible. I removed this projection in order to attempt to "rotate" the receiver into place. Turns out that this projection was the intended location for mounting the bracket for the wiring for lights. This is my third Curt hitch receiver purchase and installation, and it will be my last. Next time I will bear the extra cost of having the dealer install their own parts.
