The Blazer EV hitch is fine. I did not give it 5 stars because I found the installation was unnecessarily complicated by the poorly written instructions. The statement "Raise the hitch into position rotating the main body behind the bumper cover" is vague at best, and meaningless at worst. The nearly blacked out photos didn't help much either. "Rotate the hitch" to me sounds like - loosely attach the forward bolts and then pivot the hitch up under the bumper cover. I doubt I'm the only one who might interpret the instructions that way. There is a YouTube video of someone doing just that, but deciding to bend attachment tabs and a body flange out of the way to get it to "rotate" up. Plus I've read comments about people deciding to take the bumper cover off. I had no intention of bending the attachment tabs, and certainly not a seam sealed body flange, nor was I interested in taking the bumper cover off. Bending body parts and removing the bumper cover are not needed. Once I figured it out, the installation is actually quite simple -- but I did not "rotate" the hitch. Instead, I tucked it up between the lower lip of the bumper cover and the floor pan, then slid it rearward into the bumper cover cavity. Once it was up in the bumper cavity, the brackets lined up with the bolts and it was easy to get the 4 nuts started. I did set up a platform under each side of the hitch (cardboard box with stacked 2x4's to get the right height) to help raise it and to keep it from slipping back out of the bumper cavity. I am 71 and installed it by myself.
Purchased for a 2024 Chevy Blazer EV.
Hardware cannot be mounted on the vehicle.
Instructions said that receiver could be "rotated" into place under the bumper; physically impossible, as it required two things to be in the same place at the same time. I asked etrailer to clarify how this part could be installed per the manufacturer's directions (which I quoted to them in full), and was told to follow those directions, and that no removal of the bumper cover was required. No clarification provided.
I removed the rear bumper cover (not fun), which allowed access to the mounting areas.
Placed on end of receiver on bolts provided. On attempting to lift other end in place, discovered that the back end of the receiver was colliding with the mounting posts for the push pins that hold the underbody panel in place. These are steel mounts welded to the frame of the vehicle, and they utterly prevent installation of the part.
After hours of effort, I now have a square hole for a non-existent receiver in the bottom of my new car, and an impractically large paperweight.
The service was excellent from etrailer but the hitch is not so great. I didn't realize i need to do surgery on the car to install it. The instructions show making a gigantic cutout in the bottom panel. I will be returning it.
Fit well on my Chevy Blazer EV 2024. Instructions are clear and easy to follow, looks great installed. Took me about 2.5 hours when you include the amount of time it took me to run down to harbor Freight and get a longer ratchet so I could torque all the way on.
Took about 2 hours. Most difficult was the positioning into place. Advice using a second person. I used a small grinder to enlarge the entry holes for the square washer and carriage bolts. The easiest part was fishing the bolts and washers into place. The two plastic cut outs are only visible from underneath.
Overall an easy install with easy to follow directions. This hitch appears to be very well made.
Fits perfectly. Push it into position past the fascia screw tabs before securing nuts. The cutouts can be a little bigger to ease replacing the covers.
Direct bolt-in installation, excellent finish on receiver.
Once I followed directions, it was easy! It definitely requires a drill, or a grinder, as you have to enlarge the hole to send the bolts through. I bought a $[XX] dewalt rotary bit and it took 30 seconds to increase the hole size with a basic drill. After that I probably had it on in less than 10 minutes. I’ll admit, I was wondering how it would fit, but once the hole on the underside of the cover was cut, it fit perfectly - and easily. 3rd one of these installed on a car. Always fits just like they say it will!
The receiver is great. Went in easy. I cut the bumper with a box cutter and several passes. The pictures on my directions were b/w and a little dark. 70 mins start to finish. Looks great on my 24 Blazer EV.
Nice hitch but arrived scratched, not bad but still not as good as it should have been.
Ordering process was excellent. This order shipped same day, that was pleasantly surprising. Thanks for the great experience.
