Question:

I have a 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid with factory hitch a 4 pin plug. I’m looking at a Forest River pop up that weighs around 1600 lbs. It has electric brakes. Would a Bluetooth brake controller work ? I’ll need a 7 pin adapter as well. Thanks !

You can use a bluetooth brake controller like the Curt Echo # C51180 but one way or another you will have to add a 7-way to your Maverick. If you want to use the Echo you can install the # ETBC7L which comes with the adapter and 12V wire necessary to power the brake controller.

However, I highly recommend installing the # ETBC7 with the brake output wire and using an in cab controller. This will be more reliable and you won't have to worry about anything like pairing a phone and using an app to control it while driving. This is also a newer truck so a more permanent installation makes sense.

For a brake controller I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR. This is an incredibly simple and reliable brake controller that won't take up extra space in the cab of your truck. The main unit installs behind the dash so only the control knob is visible.
