Question:
We just bout our Yakima Ridgeback 4 bike rack. We followed the instructions and immediately ran into an issue with the 2inch inch hitch adapter. Because it is does not fit slugly against the adapter, we are unable to it into the hitch. If we take the outter piece off, the bike rack fits, but has alot of space. Can you help us resolve this issue. Were anxious to go bike riding. Thanks much!

Hey Valerie, that definitely sounds like it could be a manufacturer defect. I double checked the instructions and all you would've needed to do is connect the adapter sleeve to the shank of the rack using the M8 and M6 Allen bolts, but if the pieces aren't physically fitting together then there has to be a defect.
You can either just replace the adapter with # 8880612 or you can reach out to Yakima and show them the issue where the pieces aren't connecting and see what they say.

Thanks Bryce. After looking at a few of your videos, my husband and I figured out the issue. It turns out, we had to loosen the screw (by turning the red knob) a few times. Once we did that, the adapter fell into place and we were able to insert it into our hitch. We were also able to enjoy our Sunday bike ride. Thanks much for your help. Val Peterson.
