Which Adapter to Use for a Yakima Ridgeback or FullTilt Bike Rack

Question:

How do I know if my Yakima bike rack was manufactured prior to 2015?

To determine whether you need the (discontinued) 2" Shank Adapter 8890298 (prior to November 2015) or # 8880612 (after November 2015) you simply need to measure the holes at the end of the shank which the adapter fits over.

If you have an older version bike rack then they use M6 bolts that measure 6mm - 7mm, but the newer bike racks use M8 bolts which measure 8mm - 9mm. Just measure those holes in the shank and you will know which adapter to order.

Please note that these adapters are for the Yakima Ridgeback or FullTilt bike racks.

Interesting, however, the Yakima website says just the opposite regarding the M8 vs M6 hole size. Also, the newer part (8880612) comes with a M8, the older part (8890298) comes with a M6.
