What Size Wheel and Tire Fits Trailer With 7k Axles and 8 on 6-1/2 Bolt Pattern

Question:

I have 2 Dexter 7000lb. Axles with 25-1/4inch 6 leaf springs. With 8 hole hubs what size tire and rims can I put on there.?

The size depends on the amount of clearance you have available on your trailer. It is recommended to have three inches of clearance on the top and two inches on the inside of the tire. Most trailers like yours with an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern use 16" wheels and tires.

An ST235/80R16 like the Provider # TA53MR has an outer diameter of 30.79" and section width of 9.25". A slightly larger ST235/85R16 like the # AM32743B has an outer diameter of 31.625" and section width of 9.37". I would measure on your trailer to see what the clearance would be like and go from there.
