Expert Reply:

The bottom plate for the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch # DL14627 is 4-3/4" wide x 5-1/2" long, while the bottom plate of the # DL14725 is slightly larger at 4-3/4" wide x 6-5/8" long. The diameter of the spools are exactly the same at 6" so it's really just going to come down to whether you want single-speed or two-speed. I personally would choose the two-speed # DL14725 for the extra 200lbs of capacity and second speed for those days where you're dog tired from a long day out on the lake but still need to get the boat on the trailer.
