Recommendation to Replace Shelby 5408 Trailer Winch

If the gear is broken on your existing Shelby winch, I recommend simply replacing the entire unit, as Shelby is no longer in business and replacement parts are not readily available.

To replace your Shelby 5408 model, I recommend the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch with TUFFPLATE Finish # DL14725. This is very similar to your winch that features a 2,000 pound capacity and 2 speeds for horizontal pulling applications. The zinc TUFFPLATE finish will also do a great job of preventing rust and corrosion.
